TransPort Sugar Terminal Receives First Ship

Approximately 90 professionals work at the Sugar Terminal, divided into three work shifts. The investment in technology guarantees streamlined transport. A piece of Agrovia do Nordeste equipment carries the products along a conveyor belt to the vessels, guaranteeing a movement capacity of 2,500 sacks per hour.

On October 11, the new Suape Port Sugar Terminal in Pernambuco received its first ship from Panama, called the Dianthus. With the arrival of the cargo ship, the company – which belongs to Odebrecht TransPort and Agrovia do Nordeste, began its full operation in the region.

The terminal, located at Dock 5, moved 13,000 tons of refined sugar during this first operation, which is headed to Africa. “We are now in full operation mode and ready to meet the region’s demand, contributing toward logistics efficiency in terms of the exports of sugar produced here,” said João Gualberto, Director of Agrovia do Nordeste.

In October, the terminal stored 26,000 tons of sugar originating from the Pernambuco and Alagoas mills. The commodity also supplied the second ship that docked at the port – the Tampa Bay from Hong Kong.
