OR shares best practices and social responsibility in the construction sector during ConstruNordeste
DATE: 11/04/2025
The Bahia regional superintendent of OR, Daniel Sampaio, was one of the speakers at the 3rd ESG and Sustainability in the Construction Sector Seminar, held last Friday (17) during the ConstruNordeste program, the largest civil construction fair in the North and Northeast regions of Brazil. The event brought together experts and industry leaders at the Salvador Convention Center to discuss challenges and advances related to sustainability in the sector.
In his presentation, titled “Social Responsibility in Project Management,” Daniel highlighted OR’s main initiatives focused on social impact and ESG practices. He emphasized the two pillars that guide the company’s actions in this area:
-
Design of sustainable products, with efficient use of resources and focus on building operation;
-
Social actions during the construction phase, benefiting surrounding communities and promoting local development.
Daniel also reinforced the importance of neighborhood impact studies and social and environmental assessments to guide tailored solutions for each project.
“Based on these data, OR has promoted actions related to environmental education, income generation, waste reuse, and support for communities near the construction sites,” Daniel explained.
Among the examples presented, he highlighted the Mosaico Project, created during the construction of the Hangar Business Park in Salvador, which trains residents of the Baixinha da Mussurunga community to reuse construction waste to create decorative pieces and mosaics, generating income and strengthening local entrepreneurship.
Another highlight was OR’s support for Instituto Viva Infância, a social organization that has been active in Salvador for 19 years and offers free psychological care to children in vulnerable situations. OR has supported the institution for around six years, contributing from business structuring to infrastructure improvements, including the achievement of its own headquarters in 2025.
Daniel also presented Casa Tupinambá, an initiative in partnership with Associação Mãos Nativas, which values straw weaving and traditional handicrafts made by the artisans of Vila Sauípe, strengthening local culture and the creative economy.
“We also carry out literacy actions and awareness campaigns focused on health, citizenship, and other topics at OR’s construction sites. These efforts are essential for promoting personal development among our employees, broadening access to information, and strengthening a culture of safety and respect in the workplace,” Daniel Sampaio concluded.
