On August 26th, an event marked the beginning of a new intervention at the Port of Miami, in the United States, to be executed by OEC. The project will enable the use of new electric gantry cranes at the Port of Miami, resulting in significant reductions in greenhouse gas emissions, as well as increasing the operational efficiency of the enterprise, one of the most important in the United States.

The project is part of the port’s carbon neutralization program and was designed to increase cargo handling and reduce dependence on diesel-powered equipment. The project also includes the construction of metal structures for storing refrigerated containers connected to the power grid. OEC was responsible for the construction of the first phase of this project, delivered in 2021.

The Port of Miami, known as the Port of the Americas, is one of the most important in the American territory and one of the largest in the world, with about 10.2 million tons of cargo handled and more than 7.3 million passengers transported per year. The project is expected to be completed in 2026.
