On Saturday, June 3rd, Ocyan participated in the DiverSa Fair, the main event for connecting and creating professional opportunities for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex (and all identities, gender expressions, and sexual orientations) students and professionals. In addition to supporting the convention for the second consecutive year, at the request of the fair’s organization, the company selected two of the open positions to encourage applications from this community in Rio de Janeiro: accounting analyst (Senior Accounting Analyst (gupy.io) and financial analyst (Financial Analyst I (gupy.io).

“Since the creation of our LGBTQIA+ Affinity Group almost two years ago, we have been able to implement a series of inclusion and empowerment initiatives for this community within Ocyan’s workforce. We strive to enhance diversity within the company, but always with a focus on providing psychological safety, equity, and well-being. The DiverSA Fair is an opportunity to enrich professional exchange and it only confirms the successful path we have chosen,” emphasizes André Luiz Barros, Communications, Social Responsibility, Diversity & Inclusion Manager at Ocyan.

The event kicked off the month-long celebration of LGBTQIA+ Pride and was held in safe and inclusive environments, with a focus on career development and identity empowerment through workshops, panel discussions, and networking opportunities with sponsoring companies that aim to build more diverse teams.

    Actions towards LGBTQIA+ issues

Ocyan maintains a policy for strengthening actions in favor of LGBTQIA+ issues. Since the launch of its Diversity and Inclusion Program in 2019, Ocyan stimulates the mobilization and sensitization of its members until the consolidation of the project through practical actions.

The creation of the LGBTQIA+ Affinity Group (AG) in 2021 is one of the results of the advancement of the Program, whose guidelines promote respect and coexistence to allow permanent inclusion, a fundamental theme, especially in light of Ocyan’s area of operation, the O&G sector. The guidelines are focused on Well-being, which aims to discuss and ensure the psychological safety of employees and service providers. This is the Equality issue, which deals with the opportunities, rights, and benefits of this public; and that of Leadership Sensitization, a process that is already being carried out transversally and through the other groups to broaden diversity.

In 2022, the LGBTQIA+ Affinity Group (AG) was responsible for a series of initiatives aimed at strengthening support for LGBTQIA+ inclusion in the organizational environment. They were: training for Human Resources teams on recruiting, selecting, and hiring LGBTQIA+ individuals; Special action on the International Day Against LGBTphobia; Sensitization lecture on Equity and Equality Day with the theme “Toxic Masculinity”; Reinforcement of the Ethics Line channel (encouraging its use in cases of homophobia); Study on Paternity and Maternity Leave for the LGBTQIA+ community, among others.
