  • FPSO Cidade de Itajaí reaches the milestone of ten years of operation

    The FPSO Cidade de Itajaí, from the Altera &Ocyan joint venture , reached a relevant milestone in February: a decade of operation with more than 122 million barrels produced, with more than 3 million hours without incidents recordable on board (with or without ). The platform ship presents safety and performance indexes that reinforce the success of the vessel and the operation.

    “Reaching this mark demonstrates the commitment and competence of the joint venture in guaranteeing high operational and safety performance, which adds important market value for Altera &Ocyan and for the client, as a result of the effort of the entire onshore and offshore project team. ”, highlights Bárbara Figueira, operations engineer at FPSO Cidade de Itajaí.

    The vessel, which is located in Campo de Baúna , in the Santos Basin, has had the Australian oil company Karoon Energy since February 2013 . The platform vessel achieved an operational uptime above 98% during this period. “The results presented so far indicate a good perspective for new opportunities with Karoon ”, explains Marcelo Nunes, Managing Director of Altera&Ocyan .

    Still with regard to Karoon , Marcelo Nunes recalls that the parties built a good commercial relationship, always aiming at meeting mutual interests.

    FPSO CDI

    The Cidade de Itajaí asset is capable of operating in water depths of up to 1,000 meters, has the capacity to produce 80,000 barrels of oil per day, compress and inject two million cubic meters of gas per day.

    Successful partnership

    Built at the Jurong shipyard, in Singapore, the FPSO Cidade de Itajaí arrived in Brazil on December 29, 2012. Operation began on February 16, 2013. Cidade de Itajaí is the first production unit operated by Altera&Ocyan , which today it also has the FPSO Pioneiro de Libra, leased and operating in Campo de Mero, in the Libra Block, the largest Brazilian pre -salt reserve for the Consortium, which in addition to Petrobras has the international companies Total, Shell, CNOOC and CNPC.

    Altera &Ocyan also acts as a strategic partner of 3R Petroleum in the maintenance and operation of platforms 3R-2 and 3R-3, since last year in the Papa Terra field.

    “The partnership between Altera Infrastructure and Ocyan is a great success. We seek to continue working together to take advantage of new growth opportunities in the Brazilian market”, concludes Marcelo Nunes.
