VLT Carioca transports 11,000 more passengers a day
DATE: 12/27/2017
VLT Carioca, an Odebrecht TransPort company, has been transporting 11,000 more passengers a day since October, when it started operating in the Central do Brasil region in Rio de Janeiro. Average passenger traffic increased 25%, from 44,000 to 55,000 per day, with peak traffic of 58,000. In one month, the new stop, integrated with SuperVia’s train service, became the second busiest in the system, coming only behind the Cinelândia station.
“The increase in traffic underlines LRV’s vocation to serve as the transport that integrates the city,” says Paulo Ferreira, chief operations officer of VLT Carioca. The inauguration of the Central do Brasil station marked the conclusion of Line 2, which connects the city’s highway terminal to the Praça XV square.
