Bahia Norte inaugurates new highway – the Via Metropolitana

The Bahia Norte concessionaire, an Odebrecht TransPort company, has delivered a new 11.2-km highway: the Via Metropolitana Camaçari-Lauro de Freitas. The new stretch connects the CIA-Aeroporto highway to Estrada do Coco, going around the central region of the city of Lauro de Freitas. With this option, drivers have a faster alternative to reach the North Coast.

Investments in the construction works executed by the consortium that includes Construtora Norberto Odebrecht amounted to R$298 million. Via Metropolitana is expected to receive 15,000 vehicles daily.

“Besides providing greater convenience for drivers heading towards Camaçari and the beaches, the people of Lauro de Freitas gain better quality of life with less traffic jams,” said Guilherme Eloy, CEO of Bahia Norte.

The concessionaire provides emergency mechanical and medical assistance services, and is also responsible for the maintenance and conservation of the stretch.

Preservation and maintenance

During construction work, animals of numerous species and 18,000 seedlings of native plants were rescued. In order to ensure environmental balance, more than 6,000 seedlings were planted at different points along the highway.
