Initiative of the Norberto Odebrecht Foundation calls on society to make ‘A Smashing Goal for Education’

The atmosphere of unity, joy, and overcoming that motivates Brazilians during the World Cup can also be mobilized to do good. This is the motto that guides the 18th edition of Tribute to the Future, a charity campaign held by the Norberto Odebrecht Foundation to collect donations for schools in rural Bahia. With the slogan A Goal for Education, the initiative that engages society and members of the entire Novonor Group was launched today (27) in a live event broadcasted at the Arena Fonte Nova, with the participation of young beneficiaries, donors, and presented by journalist Patrícia Abreu.

The three supported institutions train the children of family farmers in vocational technical courses integrated to High School. These are the Agroforestry Family House – CFAF -, the Rural Family House of Presidente Tancredo Neves – CFR-PTN – and the Rural Family House of Igrapiúna – CFR-I. The training given by the schools to the students is completely free – so they depend on the support of donors and companies to keep on benefiting young people and teenagers.

Ana Mirela Silva is one of them. The 16-year-old teenager didn’t know what profession she wanted to follow. But after hearing from a colleague that in the countryside she would have no future, she decided to show that it was possible to stay in the countryside with dignity, living from agriculture like her parents. Now, she counts on the Agroforestry Family House, where she studies, to achieve this goal. “Being here has changed my thinking, I have already learned a lot. The House allows the young person to grow and become a rural entrepreneur in the future,” she says.

Teamwork and unity make the difference in sports and education

You can donate any sum at www.tributoaofuturo.com. Besides contributing to the education of teenagers, the campaign’s main goal, the donor can also obtain a tax benefit: if he declares his Income Tax in the complete form, he can deduct the amount donated in next year’s Annual Statement, reducing the tax payable or increasing the refund in 2023. To have the benefit, the donation must not exceed the limit of 6% of the taxpayer’s tax liability (click here to find out how much you can donate).

    The donation path

The funds raised by Tribute to the Future go to the Municipal Children and Teenage Funds (FIA) of the cities where the schools that carry out the projects are located: Igrapiuna, Nilo Peçanha, and Presidente Tancredo Neves, in Bahia’s Southern Lowlands region. The three supported teaching units are recognized by the Ministry of Education (MEC) and by the Bahia Secretariat of Education, and are part of UNESCO’s Associated Schools Program.

They are also partners of the Norberto Odebrecht Foundation in carrying out the PDCIS, a social program with proven impacts created in 2003 in the Bahia’s Southern Lowlands that strengthens family agriculture and youth leadership, respecting the communities’ vocation to leverage economic growth in harmony with the environment. Not until 2021, The social technology – available to be reapplied in other contexts of inequality – has benefited more than 26,000 people.
