Ocyan’s Drilling Unit obtains ISSO Certification
DATE: 12/04/2018
Ocyan’s Drilling Unit (UN-P) obtained Integrated Management System Certification under the standards ISO9001 / ISO14001 / OSHAS18001 by Bureau Veritas Certification, in compliance with ABNT NBR standards for Quality Management System, Environmental Management Systems and Occupational Health and Safety Management System, which attests to the company’s recent progress in pursuing excellence in the oil and gas industry. The certification covers the entire Drilling Unit (Macaé Base, Storage Area and 6 Drilling Rigs).
The achievement gives Ocyan a competitive advantage in winning new contracts and renewing its existing contracts and effectively improves its qualifications in future bid processes. The company enhanced its Management System and now has a solid system to support continuous improvement in its sustainability, safety, environment and quality indicators.
“Two and half years ago, we embarked on this journey, and now we have reached our goal. During the process, we implemented an Integrated Management System (IMS) project to standardize processes, improve the management system and further enhance business competitiveness. The achievement comes at a very positive moment for us supported by the market’s recovery,” commemorated Heitor Gioppo, Director of Ocyan’s Drilling Unit.
The intense competition in the oil and gas industry increases clients’ demands with regard to the quality of products and services, which has driven organizations and companies to improve their methods in order to maintain their market position and expand into new markets. According to the executive, Ocyan opted for the ISO certification because it is a proven and internationally accepted standard. “We are a young company and selected ISO so that we could do everything on an integrated basis, with all sectors involved, which sets us apart in the pursuit of quality and excellence,” explained Gioppo.
In addition to the three certifications, Ocyan expects to obtain, by end-2019, ISO55001 certification, which addresses Asset Management. “The pursuit of higher quality is an irreversible and continuous process. The certification received is a major milestone, but it does mark the end of our journey, but rather just the middle. The end goals is excellence in processes,” said Consuelo Campello, Quality Officer at UN-P.
All 1,263 team members of UN-P, from young apprentices and interns to leaders, whether working onshore or offshore, were involved in the process. “During the preparation, we conducted a communication campaign to engage everyone. During the audit, select team members participated in the evaluation and their feedback and that of the certification firm was very positive. We are on the right path,” she commemorated.
