On Thursday, April 30, the Norberto Odebrecht Foundation (FNO) carried out an institutional visit to the Angola House Cultural Center in Bahia, in Salvador. The delegation was welcomed by the director and Cultural Attaché of the Embassy of Angola in Brazil, Dr. Luandino Carvalho, accompanied by his team, Mr. Djair Nepomuceno and Mr. Gelson Dondele.
The agenda, coordinated by Marcelo Gentil, Head of Institutional Relations at Novonor, included the participation of the Foundation’s director, Cristiane Nascimento, and superintendent Norberto Odebrecht Neto. The purpose of the meeting was to present the initiative “Producing to Transform Lives,” which will be launched on May 12 in Cabinda, in the commune of Malembo.
The project is the first international replication of PDCIS, the Foundation’s social program that has promoted sustainable development in the Lower South region of Bahia for more than 20 years. Led by Odebrecht Angola, which invited the Foundation to implement the initiative in partnership with the Agrarian Development Support Fund (FADA) and Embrapa, “Producing to Transform Lives” will focus on strengthening family farming and generating opportunities for rural Angolan communities.
The meeting contributed to strengthening relations between Brazil and Angola and reaffirmed the intention for other projects of the same nature to be implemented in the African country. “Odebrecht has been carrying out major infrastructure works in Angola for more than 40 years. By integrating business operations with social commitment, we expand our impact and strengthen our commitment to the country’s development,” highlighted Norberto Odebrecht Neto.
