Have you ever felt that you don’t have enough time to do everything important in your day-to-day life?

In the fast pace in which we live, we often put numerous priorities before our health. However, it is the pillar that supports not only our ability to face everyday challenges, but also to enjoy moments of joy and fulfillment.

World Health Day, celebrated on April 7, is a call for us to reflect: are we really giving our health the attention it deserves?

Integral health: what does it mean?

To answer this question, we need to understand the deeper meaning of being healthy.

Health isn’t just about not getting sick. It’s about feeling good, both physically and mentally. It’s about having balance in all areas of life. This means maintaining a healthy body, a serene mind, balanced emotions and satisfying social relationships.

Fábio da Silva Machado, People Insurance Manager at Horiens, highlights the importance of overcoming the barrier of lack of time, finding moments to dedicate to activities that promote health and well-being. “Self-care is a matter of habit and involves many things, such as diet, mental hygiene, physical fitness, living well with your family, etc. I think it’s essential to make a daily effort to ensure the best health conditions, understanding that it’s mainly a question of self-love and love for others,” she says.

Creating new habits for a balanced life

Adopting healthy habits is a personal choice that requires commitment and persistence. Change begins with small daily actions. When choosing a new health habit to incorporate into your routine, it’s important to give yourself time to adapt. The challenge is to maintain these practices in the long term.

About two years ago, Wesley José da Silva, an administrative assistant, realized the importance of taking care of his own health and well-being. He discovered that taking care of yourself doesn’t have to be complicated. For Wesley, the secret lies in finding activities that are pleasurable, turning health care into a lifestyle, not an obligation.

“I think the biggest challenge is consistency: going to the gym every day, eating well every day, getting a good night’s sleep every day. In this respect, the key is to maintain a routine, which becomes much easier when you enjoy what you’re doing. When it becomes a lifestyle, it becomes simpler. So it’s all about searching until you find what makes you feel comfortable and excited,” he says.

    Choosing a healthier life

Taking care of your own health means embarking on a journey of self-knowledge and self-love. Regardless of the challenges of reconciling self-care with professional and personal demands, when you make health a priority, all aspects of life benefit. Recognizing the importance of self-care and making this awareness a daily commitment is essential for a healthier and happier life. How about making health your starting point for discovering the best version of yourself?
