New system was developed for the Engineering & Construction Businesses by the Compliance, Information Technology and Shared Service Center teams

The internal processes at the Engineering & Construction Businesses are now following guidelines that are more secure, transparent and aligned with the new Odebrecht Group Compliance Policy. Since May, the validation of partner companies has been different: all new suppliers or contracts and amendments with suppliers that are already partners are submitted for analysis and validation before registration.

“The new process is aligned with good market practices and our new guidelines,” explained Marcos Yuba, responsible for Compliance in Brazil for the Engineering & Construction Businesses.

    Synergy Between Teams

The change was developed by the Engineering and Construction Shared Service Center (OEC SSC), Compliance and Information Technology teams. Ricardo Hidalgo, responsible for OEC SSC External Integration, explained that one of the greatest challenges was to serve users in Odebrecht’s different countries of operation, with their respective operating models and specific characteristics. The pilot project was implemented in Panama and was crucial for the validation in the other environments.

One of the changes involves filling out a new registration form. Through this form, the supplier is evaluated by the SSC, which uses a search tool to identify and manage the financial, regulatory, and reputational risks.

    How was it possible?

To put the new system into practice, the Compliance team defined the concepts and structured the new process, while the Information Technology area assumed the challenge of developing the new tool. The SSC worked to operationalize the systems and procedures of the entire process.

“The project was extremely complex,” revealed Evandro Mendes, responsible for Architecture & Development in Information Technology. “We had to unify 28 databases and different systems within a single, global platform in just two months,” he said.
