Novonor Group companies stand out in a ranking of open innovation
DATE: 11/09/2023
Novonor Group businesses have been recognized by the 2023 edition of the 100 Open Startups Ranking. The award highlights companies that are leaders in innovation and that occupy attractive positions for the corporate market.
In the Engineering and Construction category, OEC came 4th. Ocyan came 2nd in the Top 10 Oil and Gas category and Braskem came 2nd in the Top 10 Chemicals.
In addition to recognizing and rewarding the main practitioners of open innovation in the country, the ranking aims to foster and measure the evolution of this practice in Brazil and Latin America. Due to its objective criteria, based on the quantity and intensity of relationships between corporations and startups, the 100 Open Startups Ranking is one of the main sources of data on open innovation, serving as a reference for companies and investors looking to connect with these businesses. The Ranking has been published since 2016 with a focus on promoting and generating business.
According to 100 Open Startups, the organization that promotes the ranking and evaluates the participating companies, this recognition is due to the company’s outstanding performance in open innovation with startups.
According to Daniel Lepikson, head of Innovation at OEC, the company’s presence in the ranking is the result of a consistent and effective relationship with the innovation ecosystem. “Increasingly frequent and intense approaches with startups have brought us tangible results that have already been measured internally, which confirms the importance of this work and increases our responsibility to improve our actions in this regard,” he says. According to him, this recognition was only possible thanks to the work of the construction teams who, with creativity and in the search for better results, have been consolidating fruitful partnerships.
OEC IN
OEC’s institutional innovation program, OEC IN, aims to devise solutions to the challenges faced at the company’s construction sites and offices. It was structured based on four pillars: developing an internal culture focused on mobilization and engagement; connecting OEC to the open innovation ecosystem; providing technical support in technological updates, knowledge management, and digital transformation processes; and positioning OEC as a leading actor that promotes and integrates innovation in its industry. In addition to encouraging teams to seek out new methodologies, technologies, materials and processes, the program provides for the storage and dissemination of this information, expanding its application on construction sites.
OEC IN facilitates the development of innovation solutions and challenges for identified opportunities. Whenever an opportunity is identified, Working Groups (WGs) are formed – temporary structures that organize themselves spontaneously, inspired by the concept of “agile tables”. These are small multidisciplinary teams made up of people with different skills, collaborative work and common goals.
