On Saturday, August 10, OR launched its action to plant over 1,500 trees in Salvador, Bahia. With the support of the Salvador Municipal Sustainability, Innovation and Resilience Department (Secis), the action “My Garden, Our Green” will plant brazilwood, Brazilian ironwood, golden trumpet and other trees native to the Atlantic Forest in Horto Florestal and other districts of the city.

The event was opened by Eduardo Pedreira, OR’s Director for the Northeast, who spoke to the one hundred guests about the importance of involving the community in sustainability actions. OR plans to promote this kind interaction in the districts where it is developing projects, which in the case of Horto is its residential project Monvert. Some customers, the future residents of Monvert, attended the event, as well as students from the school Hora da Criança, local residents, members of the association AMO HORTO, members of the Municipal Government (SECIS) and team members from OR.

Next, André Fraga, Salvador Municipal Secretary for Sustainability, Innovation and Resilience, demonstrated how to plant the saplings correctly, and then the children participating in the social project were invited to plant the first trees, which officially kicked off the project, which will be continued in other districts of the city.

Tree planting is part of OR’s commitment to sustainable actions and activities that cause positive impacts on the communities where it develops real estate projects, with OR recently launching in the district its project Monvert. The initiative also is a solution to the vegetation suppression requirements established by the Local Development and Urbanism Department (SEDUR), with OR tree planting under the action surpassing the recommended number.

The Monvert project – whose name alludes to the French expression mon vert, which means “my green” – is inspired by the fact that green and technologies connect people. By preserving a natural green area and with views integrated with the vegetation, the residential project offers an experience of immersion in nature.
