OEC receives innovation award from O Empreiteiro magazine
DATE: 04/15/2024
OEC – Engineering and Construction was voted one of the most innovative engineering companies of 2024 in the 5th edition of the InovaInfra Awards, promoted by O Empreiteiro magazine. The award aims to recognize innovative engineering projects that have been forerunners in the implementation of technologies on construction sites, as well as highlighting achievements that seek to redefine the sector. The awards ceremony took place on April 9 at the British Brazilian Center in São Paulo and was attended by Wagner Viana, Tamires Dias and Aaron Farah, engineers from Contracts Director Rogério Dourado’s team in the Rio de Janeiro market.
The article submitted was entitled “Immediate results of implementing BIM at the Novo Marapicu Reservoir”, a project being carried out in Rio de Janeiro for Cedae (State Water and Sewage Company). The project aims to implement a new system to increase the supply of water to the Baixada Fluminense, benefiting the municipalities of Duque de Caxias, São João do Meriti, Nova Iguaçu, Nilópolis, Belford Roxo and, indirectly, the capital of Rio de Janeiro, guaranteeing a supply for more than three million people.
The project, developed in BIM (Building Information Modeling), promotes more efficient information management and helps the development and construction teams work together until completion. The project is innovative because its development is rarely used in Brazil for projects of this type. There are important advantages to using BIM, such as cost reduction, optimization and reduction of material waste and greater quality and productivity in the design and execution phases.
“OEC has always been recognized for pioneering the implementation of new technologies in the construction market. In the New Marapicu Reservoir project, we reconciled the promotion of OEC by adhering to BIM project development with the client’s contractual requirement. We leveraged the knowledge of the young members of the contract in specific tools, so that the project was conceived in this way from the outset. Winning the InovaInfra Award reaffirms that OEC remains part of a select and important group, maintaining our essence of cutting-edge engineering and exceeding expectations,” said Wagner Viana, OEC’s Engineering Manager.
For Daniel Lepikson, head of the Innovation area, the award demonstrates strength in the market. “OEC is a company that was born out of innovation. Eighty years of experience with engineering solutions that have brought greater security and efficiency to our contracts, with better results for our clients, in projects that are always challenging. It is important that these initiatives and achievements are publicized to the market. The OEC’s award in the InovaInfra 2024 competition is recognition of this effort,” said the engineer.
In addition to Wagner, Tamires and Aaron, the other authors of the article are Alberto Pomponet, Juliana Vilar, Leonardo Barbosa, Lucas Curityba, Maico dos Anjos, Mariana de Alcantara and Sandro Cruz.
