OEC holds second workshop on BIM

On July 16 and 17, the OEC held the second edition of the BIM (Building Information Modeling) workshop, which presented an overview of the current stage of implementation and the prospects for the future use of these resources in the company, as well as sharing cases and trends. This year, OEC members had the opportunity to interact with some of the market’s leading experts, including professors, consultants and renowned professionals.
The event was opened by Fábio Gandolfo, Director of Infrastructure in Brazil at the OEC, who highlighted the importance of BIM for improving efficiency, productivity and competitiveness. Sarah Silva and Daniel Lepikson, from OEC’s innovation team, then presented the current state of the methodology in the company, highlighting the growth in professional training and the development of the OEC BIM Manual for Infrastructure.
Rogério Suzuki, from Vistta|S consultancy, spoke about the relationship between BIM and digital twins for asset management, highlighting how this is the basis for the digital transformation journey. Autodesk then presented the latest innovations in BIM tools, with a focus on artificial intelligence and collaboration through the Common Data Environment (CDE).
PROSUB representatives Ewerton Domingues and Flávia Nobrega shared the case of modeling the CIAMA school building, demonstrating the benefits of BIM in terms of time and flexibility. JNS presented its experience in digitizing sanitation assets, with emphasis on “as is” modeling.
José Carlos Lino, an international reference on the subject, presented the current panorama of BIM in Brazil and worldwide, emphasizing the importance of interoperability and OpenBIM. Ivo Mainardi, from the São Paulo Metro, shared the company’s BIM journey, highlighting its use in various projects and the importance of organizational culture. Professor Sérgio Scheer, from UFPR, closed the event by addressing construction trends 4.0 and 5.0, with a focus on collaboration between men and machines.

The workshop demonstrated the OEC’s commitment to digitalization and BIM, as well as providing a complete overview of market trends and challenges. The adoption of BIM brings several benefits, such as increased efficiency, reduced costs and improved quality. The journey of the OEC and the other participants demonstrates that BIM is fundamental to the digital transformation of the construction industry.
