A survey conducted with nearly 5,000 Brazilian university students revealed the most desired employers for students to work for during or after they graduate. Odebrecht was ranked the 7th highest evaluated company for students to serve as an intern.

The survey was conducted by the Brazilian Confederation of Junior Companies (Brasil Júnior), which represents over 500 junior companies from 120 universities. Students from 22 Brazilian states were interviewed, from majors including Administration, Civil Engineering, and Production Engineering.

    Development + Happiness

The most highly sought-after characteristics in an internship include the opportunity for training and professional development (36%) and happiness at the workplace (35%), together with leadership opportunities (25%).

According to the students, the best way of finding the ideal internship is by attending lectures and workshops (65%). Students also cite visits to the desired company head offices (51%), participation in events (51%), and contact with the companies at the university itself (42%).

“In my case, I learned about Odebrecht Agroindustrial through a friend, who had started as an intern and evolved to the trainee program,” explained Letícia Martins e Martins, an Agronomic Engineering student at the State University of São Paulo (UNESP), Ilha Solteira campus. The 22-year-old student works in the Agronomic Development sector, focused on pest control in the sugarcane plantation and tabulation of this data at the Conquista do Pontal Unit. Martins also works at installations and monitors experiments in rural São Paulo and says she plans to continue at the company after she graduates.

For Martins, besides the possibility of seeing in practice what she learned in theory, the recognition and professional respect, regardless of hierarchical position, are aspects she has observed in the daily treatment of members since the very first days of the internship in June. “You truly see how TEO influences people,” she said. “It’s not because I’m a trainee that I am not heard and valued; much to the contrary.”

    Vacation Internship

The editions of the Vacation Internship Program, considered one of the main doors of entry into the Odebrecht Group, have also revealed youths’ interest in working with us. The last selection process for the internship in January 2018 set a historical record, with 56,970 CVs received for the 50 openings offered at Odebrecht TransPortOdebrecht Engineering and Construction, and Odebrecht Real Estate Developments. The last program record was set in 2016, when 46,800 students signed up.
