    Applications are open for the Brazilian OCYAN Big Waves Award 2021/2022

    Ocyan, an oil and gas company, through its purpose with the sea, its energy that drives the world, sponsors the 4th edition of the main Brazilian big surf award – Prêmio Brasileiro OCYAN de Ondas Grandes [Brazilian OCYAN Big Waves Award] starting today. The biggest and most impressive waves surfed on the Brazilian coast can now be entered in the Surf, Tow-in, Bodyboard, Kitesurf, and Bodysurf modes.

    The award ceremony, which will take place on April 8th, will elect the surfers who caught the most important waves in the period from 2021 to early 2022, with more than BRL50,000.00 in prizes distributed among the categories.

    The modes of the 4th edition of the award are divided into: Male Wave of the Year, Female Wave of the Year, Biggest Wave of the Year, Male Bodyboard Wave of the Year, Female Bodyboard Wave of the Year, Biggest Wave of the Year, Kitesurf Wave of the Year, and Bodysurf Wave of the Year.

    The Wave of the Year category rewards the most impactful and well surfed big wave of the season, and is open to any form of wave sport, be it surfing, bodyboarding, SUP, kitesurfing, tow-in, among others.

    Registration runs until March 28 and can be done on the official website. In the profile @brasileirodegrandondasgrandes, it is possible to access more information, in addition to the registered waves and exclusive content on big waves.

    With more than 400 waves entered per edition, not to mention the reach of about 24 million people on social media in 2020 and 2021, the awards gathered the country’s greatest big wave surfers, internationally recognized world champions and several celebrities who love the sport . Names like Dani Suzuki, Isabella Santoni, Lucas Chumbo, Flavio Canto, Ricardo Bocão, Carlos Burle, and several surfing athletes.

There is nothing more fair than supporting a project that has the sea as its focus, especially when it brings in tow the encouragement of sports and the care for the marine ecosystem, which directly touch on general social and environmental actions on Ocyan’s ESG agenda”,

    In addition to Ocyan, the award has Interoceânica sponsorship, support from Lyra Navegação and Hotel BE Loft Lounge, Media support from Canal Woohoo, Surfguru and RicoSurf, and Extreme Club and Kauza Marketing organization.
