Ocyan invests in technological innovation at integrated operations center

This month, Ocyan commenced operations of Ocyan Live, an integrated monitoring system that relays data from the company’s six drilling rigs in real time to the Decision Support Center (CSD), the modern intelligence and operations center of Ocyan’s Drilling Unit (UN-P) located at the Macaé Base in Rio de Janeiro. With the system’s deployment, CSD can now operate in six dimensions – Maintenance, Monitoring (CCTV/Cameras), Drilling/MPD, Well Control, Dynamic Positioning (DP) and BOP System -, demonstrating the company’s pioneering efforts in the pursuit of innovative technological solutions in the oil & gas sector.

Equipped with artificial intelligence and machine learning, Ocyan Live is part of the investments planned under the company’s Digital Transformation Program, which was launched in November 2018 and will be ramped up throughout 2019. Henceforth, it will be possible to monitor more efficiently all that happens at the company’s drilling rigs through continuous monitoring, and to transmit reliable information more effectively, which helps in quicker decision-making.

“The goal is to have access to all the information in an integrated manner, which helps us to find solutions for the daily challenges. Today, the world advances towards technological innovations and the oil & gas sector cannot stand still,” said Rodrigo Chamusca, manager of the Decision Support Center (CSD). “Ocyan Live will enable us to collect, monitor and handle a multitude of data for all the players involved, also enabling us to avoid operational problems, prevent incidents and accidents and reduce maintenance costs, among other technical and safety advantages,” he added.
