Ocyan showcases innovation and announces commitment at 2018 Rio Oil & Gas

Ocyan wound up its participation at 2018 Rio Oil & Gas yesterday (9/27).This year’s edition of the fair, the largest oil and gas event in Latin America, organized by the Brazilian Oil, Gas and Biofuels Institute (IBP), was held from September 24 to 27 at Riocentro in Rio de Janeiro.

On the first day of the event, Ocyan showcased its new concept of riser tower, the set of risers (ducts) that interconnects a production vessel to deepwater oil wells. Developed in partnership with Magma Global, CompRiser – the name given to the innovation – features technology that offers various advantages over the rigid and flexible risers available in the market, such as lower assembly time and significant reduction in the weight of the system over the FPSOs (platform supply vessels that produce, store and carry oil).  The name CompRiser was chosen in an internal contest among Ocyan team members. “We brought to this year’s Rio Oil & Gas an important technological innovation. CompRiser demonstrates the success of our partnership with Magma in the pursuit of transformative solutions for the oil & gas industry,” pointed out Marcelo Nunes, Subsea Director of Ocyan.

On Tuesday (9/25), the IBP organized a dinner in which young professionals and CEOs of industry leaders participated. Six young team members from Ocyan had the chance to meet the CEOs of other companies and exchange ideas on life and career, the oil & gas market, the current scenario and trends in the energy sector. “Joining these young professionals for dinner was a highly rewarding experience. On the one hand, we had the chance to learn about the perspectives of professionals who are beginning their career, and on the other, they had the opportunity to learn from the experience of the leaders of some of the world’s largest companies in this sector,” said Roberto Simões, Business Leader of Ocyan.

On Wednesday (9/26), Jocelina Valle from the Sustainability area at Ocyan served on the Board during the Technical Session on Industry Management as the evaluator of seven papers presented at the Rio Oil & Gas Congress. Ocyan was also one of the sponsors of the Sustainability Arena at the event.

On Thursday (9/27), Ocyan concluded its participation at 2018 Rio Oil & Gas by undertaking an important commitment towards a more ethical and transparent market. At the close of the event, the company signed the Integrity Pact of the Oil, Gas and Biofuels Industry, conceived by 14 important companies in the sector, with support from IBP and Institute Ethos. The initiative establishes ethical principles that must be respected by companies across the sector while doing business, in the fight against corruption.
