NORBE VI drilling rig begins operation
DATE: 02/05/2020
Ocyan’s Norbe VI drilling rig begins operations today, in a contract signed for the next two years. The first expedition will be carried out in the Tartaruga Verde field, in the Campos Basin, with a forecast duration of up to 45 days. Norbe VI is one of Ocyan’s 5 deepwater drilling rigs.
The vessel is a semi-submersible drilling platform, with dynamic positioning capable of operating in water depths of up to 2.4 thousand meters and drilling wells of up to 7.5 thousand meters. The rig was built in 2010 and was under contract with Petrobras until 2018. Norbe VI will intervene in well 3-RJS-670 and is already allocated, awaiting Petrobras’ final approval to start the work.
“We prepared ourselves for months in the Guanabara Bay, a period during which all the adaptation and maintenance services were performed to meet the client’s requirements. Our goal is to maintain this asset operational, as is already the case with the other Ocyan drilling rigs,” explains Heitor Gioppo, Superintendent Director of the Ocyan Drilling Unit.
The rig was one of those classified by Petrobras in the bidding process for equipment with the capacity to operate in 2,000 meters of water in Brazilian waters delimited by the geographical coordinates according to Concession, Onerous Transfer or Production Sharing Contracts.
Norbe VI Milestones
The semi-submersible rig has already been hired by Petrobras and carried out operations in the period, from 2011 to mid 2018, and had as a favorable indicator the mark of two years without accidents on board. The contract was finalized with 98% operational uptime (efficiency index) and was classified in second place in the Petrobras (Sondópolis) performance ranking.
