The Odebrecht Global Council was created to support the Group throughout its process of change. The council consists of representatives from the academic world and multilateral and governmental entities

Representatives from the Odebrecht Global Council are meeting today in São Paulo with some 180 company leaders during the seminar Challenges and Opportunities when Facing External Scenarios. The meeting covered the foundations of the process of change currently underway at the Group.

“We made some mistakes; it is important to recognize this,” said Emílio Odebrecht, Chairman of the Odebrecht S.A. Board of Directors. “We have spoken about this in prior statements and in our public apology. We have the obligation to learn a great deal from the errors and also the suffering we endured due to this serious crisis,” he said.

He further added that the main challenges now are external. “These challenges include, for example, the need for structuring and cultural in-depth changes in Brazil and in the other markets and communities in which we are present,” he added.

    About the Council

The Odebrecht Global Council was created to support the Odebrecht S.A. Board of Directors as it develops an extensive, diversified geopolitical vision, as well as with topics like governance and strategic focus. Its membersare internationally recognized leaders from companies, civil society organizations, the academic world, and multilateral and governmental entities.

During the seminar, two topics were debated: Changing the Role of Companies in Society and The Effectiveness of Competition Based on Ethics, Integrity, and Transparency in Challenging Environments. Odebrecht will use these topics to identify the actions for its Strategic Focus.

Starting next week, we’ll bring you a series of interviews with the Global Council members. What do they have to say about our current phase? What will the future be like for the companies in Brazil and worldwide? Stay tuned!
