Atvos’ Energia Social program approves new professional qualification projects and itinerant cultural station

Energia Social, Atvos’ socio-environmental investment program, approved two new projects for Nova Alvorada do Sul (MS), which will be developed throughout 2020. This is a professional qualification project exclusively for women and an itinerant bus, the ‘Estação do Saber’. The total investment of the initiatives will be more than R$ 65 thousand.

“Today, we create more than six thousand direct and indirect jobs, but to participate in the development of the region we need to go further. We need to contribute for the improvement of education and professional qualification”, says Danilo Bertoli, responsible for the Atvos’ Unit in Mato Grosso do Sul.

The professional qualification project will train 25 women from the community to act as agricultural machinery operators in harvesting and mechanized planting operations, with classes on technological concepts of the equipment and maneuvers practice in the operation.  The ‘Estação do Saber’ will transform a ‘junk bus’ into a space equipped with media and pedagogical resources that can stimulate students from the 1st to 9th grade of local schools in the city and rural area in the reading and writing practice. The place will also be used for school tutoring. The expectation is to serve up to 80 people per day, during opening hours.

“These projects create opportunities for two important groups in the society. They promote the inclusion of women in the labor market and encourage young people to access new ideas and express their opinions”, explains Mônica Alcântara, responsible for business sustainability.

In the city, the program has already directly benefited over 18 thousand people, with the implementation of seven projects that received R$ 3.7 million of investments: Professional Qualification; Environmental Education Course; Solid Waste Integrated Management Plan; Clinical Analysis Laboratory; Circular Gardens; Culture Point; and Accordion Orchestra. In all 11 cities benefited by the Energia Social program there are more than 155 thousand people benefited, 77 proposals made and investments of more than R$ 25.5 million.

One of the main differentials of Energia Social is its participatory governance model, in which, together, government, society and the company discuss and carry out actions.
