Ocyan Waves Challenge discloses finalists
DATE: 01/23/2020
Six startups reached the end of the Ocyan Waves Challenge, the first program of the innovation platform implemented by Ocyan, a company that operates in the oil and gas sector, and now become suppliers of the company. The startups offered solutions for specific Ocyan demands in several business areas. They are: Rio Analytics(Rio de Janeiro), for the control of drill pipe productivity Smarti (Curitiba), to improve the management of material reception and shipping operations; Confirm8(São Paulo), for equipment inspection; Delphos (Fortaleza), to improve the operational control of the Blowout Preventer (BOP), equipment that controls pressures inside the well; Checklist Fácil(Florianópolis), for the control of documents onboard vessels; and SocialBase (Florianópolis), for the challenge of communication with the members who stay onboard.
“Since the program’s launch, it has been nine months of work and mutual dedication by Ocyan and the startups. We learned a lot with the agility of the startups and they had the opportunity to dive into our operations and into the oil and gas industry. As of this year, the approved pilot projects will be definitively implemented. A great advantage of our program is that the startups will be able to offer the solutions developed to other companies in the sector and not only to Ocyan”, highlights Ocyan Offshore Production Director and leader of the Ocyan Waves program, Rodrigo Lemos.
The program
The Ocyan Waves Challenge presented eight challenges to the startup market in March 2019 to seek innovative solutions to problems in the support or operational areas. Throughout the process, 122 startups were registered from different parts of the country. “It was very interesting to see the evolution of the process, each step that was conquered, and how the startups brought new ideas to the problems we face. Too bad it is not possible to continue with all of them”, celebrates the executive.
For 2020, the project leader hopes to attract more companies, with the program already being structured and recognized. “We should hold the second edition of the Ocyan Waves Challenge and hope to increase the number of selected startups, our goal is to gather more startups that can help us with our internal challenges.”
