The 2019.1 Report of Tribute to the Future is already available for all social investors of its last campaign. The report shows how the funds raised are being used for educating youth living in the rural zone of the Baixo Sul region of Bahia. Last year, over 5,300 persons embraced the cause of education, being responsible for raising around R$2.3 million.

The projects sponsored via Tribute to the Future are implemented by three Family Homes: Agroforest Family Home (Cfaf), Igrapiúna Rural Family Home (CFR-I) and Presidente Tancredo Neves Rural Family Home (CFR-PTN). These rural schools, part of the Program for Development and Growth Integrated with Sustainability (PDCIS) established and coordinated by the Foundation, have the mission of providing youth with quality education, with the focus on ethics and values, and stimulating a more proactive role for youth.

The program currently benefits 327 students, of whom 54% are boys and 46% are girls. For the selection process of the schools, 857 teens from 14 municipalities in the Baixo Sul region and nearby cities signed up. Neilma Brito, 14, joined the 1st year of CFR-PTN in 2019. For her, the school is already a synonym for transformation. “A few youth from my community joined the Family Home and describe it as a reference. That’s why I dedicated myself to the selection process. The school brings fresh knowledge and works side by side with small farmers. This is making a big difference in my life,” she said.

The students have already implemented 204 multiplier initiatives in the form of seminars, lectures and field days in order to disseminate knowledge and share new agricultural techniques with farmers in the regions where they live. In the first half of 2019 alone, 5,569 people were indirectly benefited by these initiatives.

Moreover, 280 Educational-Productive Projects (PEPs) were implemented, in which youth receive inputs and technical instructions from educators to start cultivation, earn income and reinvest the profit in new production cycles. The funds raised during the campaign enabled the implementation of PEPs for crops such as banana, manioc, pineapple, honey, cocoa and vegetables.

According to Thiago Maciel, responsible for Tribute to the Future, this report underlines the commitment to social investors. “We rely on the support of people engaged in the construction of a future with more opportunities for hundreds of youth and their families in the Baixo Sul region of Bahia. Now, we are presenting the results of this investment and showing the achievements that were only possible because of the funds raised in the last campaign,” he explained.
