Last Monday (June 15), Odebrecht Engenharia & Construção received the recommendation letter for recertification in ISO 9001:2015 (Quality Management System), ISO 14001:2015 (Environmental Management System), and ISO 45001:2018 (Occupational Health and Safety Management System). The audits were conducted collectively, with the three standards being assessed simultaneously, resulting in significant gains in process optimization and cost reduction.

This year’s validation cycle was developed in an even more collaborative manner, with the audited projects undertaking diligent preparation in advance. In addition to the corporate headquarters, the following projects participated in the process: RNEST (UHN Consortium), Rodoanel, EBN Prosub, Gávea Station, Canal do Sertão Alagoano (Brazil), and NAIC (New Cabinda International Airport) in Angola. The recertification covers the operations of OECI, Tenenge, CNO, and Bento Pedroso Construções (BPC).

The certified scope includes project management, procurement, civil construction, electromechanical assembly, commissioning, start-up, assisted operations, technical assistance, and maintenance activities for infrastructure, industrial, oil and gas, and renewable energy projects.

According to Maria Alencar, Contract Director of the UHN Consortium with Petrobras, the recertification attests to the robustness of the company’s Quality, Health, Safety, and Environmental management systems. “It is an essential requirement for operating in a competitive market with increasingly demanding clients,” she stated.

For Gustavo Lima, Contract Director at NAIC, these recertifications represent much more than maintaining compliance certifications. “They are fundamental requirements for several clients and international financing institutions, especially in large-scale projects with high governance standards.” He added: “The successful recertification process clearly demonstrates the synergy among all contract areas and the teams’ commitment to operational excellence. This translates directly into greater process control, shorter delivery timelines, high-quality final products, customer satisfaction, and improved results for shareholders.”

According to Marcelo Piller, Director of the Operations Support Center, it is important to highlight the collaborative spirit demonstrated by all leaders who proactively took part in the formal audit process. “In addition to reflecting strong alignment with our culture, it encourages other contracts to adopt the procedures implemented by the audited projects, continuously raising the standard of the processes we apply across our operations. In an increasingly competitive and demanding market, these certifications strengthen our credibility, enhance our ability to secure new contracts, and reinforce our partners’ confidence in Odebrecht’s execution capabilities.”

The engagement of projects at different stages of their lifecycle demonstrates that our management system is applicable and beneficial throughout all phases of a project, from mobilization to the period preceding completion. The process was conducted by QMS Certification, an international certification body accredited by the International Accreditation Service (IAS), headquartered in the United States and currently present in more than 30 countries.

The primary objective of ISO certifications is to standardize processes, ensure the safety and quality of services, and promote sound management practices within organizations. They certify that a company operates in accordance with recognized and accredited international standards.
