  • Tenenge-Enseada Consortium launches 27th mining barge in Maragogipe

    Published by: Enseada Tenenge

The Tenenge-Enseada Consortium launched its 27th mining barge last Monday (June 1) in Maragogipe (BA), destined for LHG Mining. The vessel is part of a project to build 400 barges, carried out by four Brazilian shipyards in the North and Northeast regions, including the Enseada Shipyard in Bahia, which is responsible for constructing 80 of the vessels.

At 60 meters in length and with a capacity to transport 2,900 tons, the construction of the barges reinforces the leading role of Bahia’s shipbuilding industry and the progress of the partnership between Tenenge and Enseada. The project has already generated more than 500 direct jobs and around 900 indirect jobs in the Recôncavo Baiano region, with a significant impact on the local economy.

The initiative adds to Tenenge’s portfolio diversification efforts, the industrial engineering arm of Odebrecht, which recently also signed a contract with CMM Offshore to build six OSRV (Oil Spill Recovery Vessel) ships that will operate for 12 years for Petrobras.

Designed for the construction and integration of offshore units, the Enseada Shipyard is one of the largest in the country and represents the largest private investment in the Brazilian shipbuilding industry, with around US$1 billion already invested.

The shipyard, which is part of an industrial and logistics complex, was established in a strategic location, supporting the development of industrial projects. It has the capacity to process more than 100,000 tons of steel per year and features approximately 1,000 meters of dock.
