Odebrecht delivers 60th Health Center for PPP in Belo Horizonte
DATE: 05/18/2026
On May 11, the population of Belo Horizonte welcomed the 60th Health Center built through a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) managed by SPE Saúde BH and the municipal government. The facility is the Minas Caixa Health Center. The construction was carried out by Odebrecht Engenharia & Construção.
The Health Center includes reception, administrative areas, offices for Family Health teams, a pharmacy, waiting rooms, collection and vaccination areas, dental offices, observation rooms, dressing and sanitation rooms. The project also includes a multipurpose room, pantry, lounge, locker rooms, restrooms, spaces for community health agents, and epidemic control. Each unit has the capacity to provide, on average, around 5,000 services per month to users in the region.
Cleaning and maintenance services, building upkeep, property security, clinical engineering (supply and maintenance of furniture and equipment), and utilities management are the responsibility of the private partner—the concessionaire SPE Saúde BH—which handles all services outside the core activities of healthcare delivery. Medical care services (clinical assistance), on the other hand, remain under the responsibility of the public partner—the Belo Horizonte Municipal Health Department.
The Health Centers are built using Light Steel Frame technology, whose main characteristic is the ease of installation with walls made of drywall and/or cement boards, reducing construction time. This method is also more environmentally sustainable while maintaining high quality. At the end of the concession period, the physical structures and equipment become part of the public assets and are returned in full working condition to the granting authority.

Global award
The Health Centers project won in the Health Care category at the 2023 Global Best Projects awards, organized by the specialized U.S. magazine ENR.
