DATE: 11/19/2024
On November 21, OEC Engenharia & Construção, one of the leading companies in its sector in Angola, celebrates 40 years of activity in the country. Since 1984, the OEC has played a key role in Angola’s development, implementing projects with a major economic and social impact, generating job opportunities and promoting the integration and training of thousands of Angolan staff.
OEC’s trajectory in Angola began with the emblematic “Capanda Hydroelectric Plant” project, a milestone in the country’s energy sector. Over these four decades, the company has consolidated its presence with the construction of more than 160 projects, including significant works in sectors such as energy, transport, sanitation, urban development and family housing construction, among others.
With more than 160 projects completed in various strategic areas, such as energy, agribusiness, mining and real estate, OEC actively contributes to the country’s growth, always with a focus on people and the future.
In the last four years, OEC has focused on the construction of the Barra do Dande Ocean Terminal, Cabinda Refinery, Lobito Refinery and Cabinda International Airport, whose foundation stone was laid on May 19, 2023. In 2017, it made possible the Inauguration of the Laúca Hydroelectric Plant (2017), the largest hydroelectric plant in Angola, with an energy capacity of 2070MW, and one of the largest in Africa.
Throughout these 40 years, optimizing each of the projects it has been responsible for in Angola, OEC has maintained a permanent commitment to local employment, which is why 94% of its employees are Angolan. This figure consolidates it as one of the main sources of job creation and training in the national market.
In addition to its strong presence in the engineering and construction sector, OEC has actively collaborated in various social responsibility projects, reinforcing its commitment to improving the quality of life in the communities where it operates.
“The celebration of the OEC’s 40th anniversary in Angola is testimony to our commitment to the country’s economic and social development. We are proud to have participated in projects that have shaped Angola’s infrastructure and improved the lives of millions of Angolans,” says the OEC Angola Board of Directors.
The same source stressed that OEC Angola will continue to invest in the country’s future, with the same dedication and integrity that has guided the company over the last four decades.
With 40 years of presence in Angola, OEC has established itself as a company that contributes significantly to the growth of the national economy, maintaining its commitment to ethics, integrity and transparency in all its operations.
