Enseada Promotes Environmental Education in Public Schools of Maragojipe
DATE: 06/18/2024
On World Environment Day, celebrated on June 5th, Enseada carried out a series of educational actions in public schools of Maragojipe and Salinas da Margarida. The activities, which reached 132 students, aimed to raise awareness among children about the importance of environmental preservation and everyone’s role in restoring the environment.
Environmental education is essential in children’s development, as they become multipliers of information, directly influencing their families and communities. Teaching new generations about sustainability is an investment in the future of our planet.
This year, the theme chosen by the UN for World Environment Day was “Generation Restoration”. The actions taken addressed the importance of this theme, explaining that environmental restoration is a collective responsibility and that individual actions can have significant positive impacts.
The lectures were held in three schools: Valdemar Alves Menezes in Salinas headquarters, with 69 students; Antônio Virgílio de Medina in São Roque do Paraguaçu, with 24 students; and Desembargador Oscar Dantas in Enseada do Paraguaçu, with 39 students. During the activities, the concept of the environment and the relevance of environmental restoration were discussed. The children learned that, although humanity is responsible for many environmental damages, we also have the power to reverse these impacts through conscious actions.
Practical examples of how to help the environment were shared, and the students actively participated, suggesting other sustainable practices that can be adopted in daily life. The phrase that marked the end of the presentations was: “We reap what we sow! Don’t throw trash, throw seeds.” Inspired by this message, the students received seed paper sheets to plant lettuce, encouraging the practice of sustainable agriculture at home or in school gardens.
For Eliene Lima, who led the activity in the schools, it was an action rich in information with simple and illustrative language where the students participated, interacted, and were able to make comparisons with events such as the droughts in Amazonas and especially the floods in Rio Grande do Sul.
With these initiatives, Enseada Indústria Naval reinforces its commitment to environmental education and the formation of a new generation that is conscious and active in protecting our planet.
Follow below the report from teacher Rute, from Professor Valdemar Alves Menezes school:
“On behalf of Professor Valdemar Alves Menezes school, I would like to express our most sincere thanks for the inspiring and engaging lecture recently presented at our school. The way the environmental theme was approached was not only informative but also captivating and motivating. I believe that moments like this are fundamental for our students’ formation, as it offers them new perspectives and encouragement to explore different areas of interest. The lectures are, without a doubt, always appreciated at school. We thank you for the time and effort dedicated and hope to count on Enseada’s collaboration again in the future.”
