OEC to build nine more health centers in Belo Horizonte
DATE: 01/11/2024
In December, the OEC will begin construction of three new health centers in Belo Horizonte, through a Public-Private Partnership (PPP). They are the Heliópolis (North), Diamante (Barreiro) and Dom Orione (Pampulha) units. The PPP is between Belo Horizonte City Hall and the concessionaire SPE Saúde BH. The new centers will be made possible through a contract amendment signed in November.
With this amendment, the contract, which previously provided for the construction of 50 units, now covers a total of 59 health centers. So far, 48 units have been delivered.
All health centers are designed with a standardized physical space, comprising two floors, independent access and welcoming, humanized environments. These features aim to provide safety and comfort for both the population served and the health professionals who work in the units.
Each center has 17 offices for general care, including waiting rooms, triage, procedures, dressing, collection, vaccination, hygiene, a multipurpose space, a pharmacy, an area for zoonoses and administrative areas. There will also be a dentist’s office with six chairs. The aim is to offer complete and integrated facilities to meet the diverse health needs of the community.
It is estimated that each new health center will benefit the population with a monthly average of 3,000 to 5,000 visits. Construction work on the new centers is expected to be completed within 16 months, reinforcing the PPP’s commitment to promoting comprehensive access to an efficient structure for the population of Minas Gerais.
The Health Centers project built by OEC received international recognition when it was awarded in the “Health Care” category in the renowned Global Best Projects, awarded by the North American specialist magazine, ENR – Engineering News-Record.
