On the last 6th of June, OEC Angola, through the Barra do Dande Oceanic Terminal project, carried out an Ecological Walk on the Barra do Dande fishermen’s beach for the collection of solid waste.
The group of volunteers had the collaboration of project members and external participants, such as students, teachers, and coordinators from School 353, from the communal headquarters of Barra do Dande. The action also had the presence of the head of the Environment and Sanitation area of the communal headquarters of Barra do Dande, Edgar Bangula, and the secretary of the Administration of Barra do Dande, Manuel Inglês.
“The action showed that there are still many young people concerned about the environment. The initiative created a different mindset and discipline among the participants. It would be important to cover not only the headquarters neighborhood but also other localities that make up our commune,” said Manuel Inglês.
Teixeira da Cunha Sebastião, an employee of the project in the Environmental area, considers it to be an experience that should be periodic: “The direct participation of collaborators and volunteers with socio-environmental impact actions reinforces the importance of collecting and segregating waste and creates space for ideas and positive practices on environmental education and preservation of the social environment,” he concluded.
A total of 94 volunteers participated in the activity, resulting in the collection of 3.3 tons of solid waste.
