Tenenge – an OEC company specializing in the industrial works market – completed the construction of the South Gas Terminal, in Babitonga Bay, Santa Catarina, after finalizing the commissioning and performance testing of the undertaking. With the completion of the work, the terminal’s operation was definitively transferred to New Fortress Energy, which owns TGS.

According to Marco Aurélio Barros, Tenenge’s Contract Officer in charge of the project, this is a project that will usher in a new phase in Santa Catarina’s economy, enabling a greater supply of natural gas to industries and the population in general. “We have delivered this project for a high-profile client, which brings immediate benefits to the population of the state of Santa Catarina. We are grateful for the opportunity to take part in such an important and challenging project,” he says.

The Gás Sul Terminal can supply up to 15 million cubic meters of natural gas per day, representing an increase of more than three times the total previously available in the state of Santa Catarina. Located 300 meters off the coast of the city of São Francisco do Sul, the TGS has the infrastructure to receive and store liquefied natural gas (LNG), regasify and distribute it. The gas arrives at the terminal by sea via methane ships, from where it is transferred via the ship-to-ship system to the Energos Winter FSRU (floating storage and regasification unit), already moored at the terminal, which has the capacity to store 160,000 cubic meters of LNG. The TGS interconnects with GASBOL (Bolivia-Brazil Gas Pipeline) via 33 km of 20-inch pipelines, making it possible to distribute gas to various municipalities in the southern region of Brazil.
