Tenenge closes contract with Acelen for refinery maintenance and modernization
DATE: 10/27/2022
Modernization program is underway at the Mataripe Refinery (BA), allowing increased production capacity and greater energy efficiency
Tenenge was selected by Acelen to be one of the service providers for the Maintenance Shutdown at Mataripe Refinery (BA), which has been undergoing a comprehensive modernization program to increase efficiency, reliability, production quality, and greater availability of the operating units.
The shutdowns are part of a set of priority actions by Acelen to allow the refinery to increase and diversify its production. Tenenge’s work is entering a new stage of programmed stoppages, throughout the month of October, to perform improvement services in the special units and in several pieces of equipment, allowing an operation with greater energy efficiency, one of Acelen’s ESG agendas.
The refinery was the first one built in Brazil and, today, it is the second largest in production capacity, more than 300,000 barrels of oil per day, which corresponds to 14% of the country’s total refining capacity.
The Mataripe Refinery and its logistics assets in Bahia, including the Madre de Deus Terminal, were sold by Petrobras in 2021, within the divestment plan of the state-owned company. Acelen, which took over management of the refinery in December last year, is an energy company created by Mubadala Capital, the asset management subsidiary of Mubadala Investment Company.
