On November 26, the Brazilian Navy launched the submarine Almirante Karam (S43), the fourth and final conventional vessel built under the Submarine Development Program (PROSUB). The submarine will now undergo testing until its final delivery.

The event also marked the delivery of the Tonelero (S42) submarine, launched in 2024. The construction of conventional and nuclear-powered vessels is carried out by Itaguaí Construções Navais (ICN), a partnership between Novonor, Odebrecht’s holding company, and Naval Group. From now on, ICN’s focus will be on the development and construction of the nuclear-powered submarine Álvaro Alberto.

Odebrecht Engenharia & Construção is proud to contribute to the infrastructure works of the Shipyard and Naval Base, where these modern vessels are built and housed.
