OEC Members Mobilize for Safety
DATE: 04/04/2025
On April 3rd, workers from OEC’s construction sites and offices in different countries reflected on the prevention of workplace accidents.
The General Stop engaged the entire workforce in an open dialogue about safety, emphasizing the protection of life and physical integrity with a commitment and objective of utmost urgency and importance.
At the São Paulo Office, Paulo Cintra, Safety Manager, Marcelo Piller, Director of Engineering and Sustainability, Fábio Gandolfo, DS Brazil Infrastructure, and Maurício Almeida, DS Brazil Industrial Plants, reinforced that the company’s success depends on the effectiveness of measures adopted to protect OEC’s greatest asset: the people who work and interact with the projects. It is the absolute respect for this principle that ensures safe work – a universal human right, and includes the health and safety of people at the center of decisions.
Additionally, they reiterated that the safety of each member is a priority shared by everyone, where the role and responsibility of leaders are highlighted as they are the main promoters of the prevention agenda. The messages also emphasized that everyone should remain alert to the risks present in their environment and diligent in identifying and reporting safety deviations, and that no one should perform a task in which they feel unsafe, and that everyone should always prioritize their own life and that of their colleagues.
Paulo Cintra also reinforced that “no work activity, no matter how routine, is free from risks. Accidents can happen in the simplest activities, on construction sites, in offices, during commutes, and even at home. We must always act as prevention agents, applying the concepts learned at work in all situations, reflecting our commitment to prevention and valuing life.”
The Stops replicated in all projects simultaneously engaged more than 12,000 people. In each operation, specific dangers and risks, controls and restrictions adopted, as well as roles and responsibilities of everyone were reinforced to build an even safer OEC.
