OEC is once again recognized with the GHG Protocol Gold Seal
DATE: 08/29/2024
For the 11th consecutive year, OEC has received the Gold Seal of the Brazilian GHG Protocol Program (PBGHG), awarded by the Getúlio Vargas Foundation’s Center for Sustainability Studies (FGVces). The initiative encourages a corporate culture of greenhouse gas (GHG) inventories in Brazil, provoking relevant reflections on how organizations can tackle climate change.
As part of its commitment to the climate and transparent reporting of its performance, OEC has been publishing its GHG inventory since 2010. The exercise consolidates the results of operations, in Brazil and abroad, materializing the efforts of the teams dedicated to the precision, comprehensiveness and completeness required in this monitoring.
“I am very proud to celebrate my participation in this very important process. Monitoring and quantifying our emissions is fundamental to our mitigation strategies. I would like to congratulate the OEC teams for their commitment and dedication which resulted in the Gold Seal. This achievement reflects our commitment to the climate agenda and sustainability,” says Tatiana Menez, responsible for Data Management and Monitoring in OEC’s Sustainability team.
Cauê Borges, responsible for Environmental Practices and Carbon, added: “This is the 14th consecutive year that the OEC has published its greenhouse gas inventory. We started with this commitment when there were only 79 organizations publishing, and today there are 985. This commitment to transparency contributes to the construction of coherent public and sectoral policies to mitigate climate change. The practice of carrying out a quality inventory provides companies with the information they need to plan their contribution to decarbonization, as well as monitoring the effectiveness of their actions over time. On this journey, OEC monitors the results of its actions, contributing to the maturing of the climate agenda in the sector and to the migration to a low-carbon economy.”
The annual event of the Brazilian GHG Protocol Program, which celebrates the publication of the GHG inventories of the member organizations and the end of the annual cycle, took place on August 21.
