OEC starts new works in Belo Horizonte
DATE: 09/13/2024
Ten works are currently being carried out by OEC in the city of Belo Horizonte. There are six Health Centers (CS) and four Municipal Early Childhood Schools (EMEIs). The most recent projects started are CS Parque da Aviação, scheduled for delivery in May 2025, CS Independência, scheduled for June 2025, and EMEI Parque da Aviação, scheduled for August next year. The works on CS Itamarati are due to begin in September and expected to be completed in July next year, out of a total of nine new centers contracted.
All the works are being carried out using Light Steel Frame technology, the main feature of which is its easy-to-execute installation, closed off by plasterboard walls and/or cement slabs. When completed, the four schools will offer 1,500 places. The nine new health centers will be able to serve more than 120,000 people.
In this social PPP model, the private partner is responsible for the maintenance and administrative activities of the projects, while the municipality, the public partner, provides the specialized workforce for health activities, in the case of the CSs, and education, in the case of the municipal schools.
Structure
Each municipal school has eleven classrooms, four of which are wheelchair-accessible, a library, a meeting room and an activity room. It also has a cafeteria, a kitchen, a rest room for the children, a playground, a lifting platform for accessibility and changing rooms.
The Health Centers, on the other hand, have 17 offices for general care, including waiting rooms, trial, procedures, dressing, collection, vaccination, hygiene, a multipurpose space, a pharmacy, an area for zoonoses and administrative sectors. There will also be a dentist’s office with six chairs. The aim is to offer complete and integrated facilities to meet the diverse health needs of the community.
The Health Centers project built by OEC received international recognition when it was awarded in the “Health Care” category in the renowned Global Best Projects, awarded by the US specialist magazine ENR – Engineering News-Record.
