Odebrecht’s Internal Audit department held the first edition of AuditNext – Brazilian Internal Audit Meeting on May 28 at the FECAP Theater in São Paulo. The event brought together 388 participants, filling the venue provided by the educational institution, and took place as part of a series of actions implemented during May, which is considered the International Internal Audit Month by the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA). The institute promotes IIAMay, an initiative with which the construction company and Novonor have been engaged since 2022.
The meeting welcomed leaders, specialists, and professionals from three countries (Brazil, Uruguay, and Argentina) and five Brazilian states (São Paulo, Minas Gerais, Espírito Santo, Bahia, and Amazonas) in a high-level discussion addressing topics such as innovation, technology, integrity, and risk management, highlighting the importance of Internal Audit as a strategic partner in strengthening companies and businesses.
According to Gemau Halla, Head of Internal Audit, Risk, and Internal Controls at Odebrecht and organizer of the event, the first AuditNext exceeded all expectations. “Initially, we envisioned a smaller, more streamlined event, but as we discussed it with partners, more ideas emerged, and in a short time it gained a much larger dimension. With the support of our sponsors, and especially FECAP, which opened its doors to host the meeting, we were able to deliver a high technical-quality event for those who attended.”
For Daniel Girotto, Manager of Internal Audit and Investigation at Embraer and one of the event speakers, “the more we talk about governance culture and internal audit culture, the more we strengthen organizations in their pursuit of increasingly sustainable results.”
Meanwhile, Gabriela Ramos, from the Digital Audit area at Axxia Energia, said, “the event contributed to bringing forward trending topics, such as technology, but focused on audit. It helped connect people, foster innovation, and democratize these topics so they are increasingly discussed and disseminated within companies.”
AuditNext was supported by FECAP – Centro Universitário Álvares Penteado, Grupo RAC², and Aldo Automate, and sponsored by Perinity, S2 Consultoria, Tetra Solutions, CLA Brasil, Hupdata, and KNIME.
