DATE: 10/11/2024
On October 9th, the Norberto Odebrecht Foundation (FNO) held a live event that inspired and connected members of the Novonor Group on a very special date: the birthday of its founder, Norberto Odebrecht. The live event “A Story in the Service of People” brought reflections on the life and work of the entrepreneur, celebrating the legacy that continues to guide the Group’s actions, which this year celebrates 80 years since the creation of its engineering and construction company, OEC.
The virtual event brought together approximately 160 members and featured the participation of two individuals who, together, have dedicated 48 years to the Group: Cristiane Nascimento, responsible for Sustainability and Partnerships at FNO, and Márcio Polidoro, consultant and former member. The mediation was conducted by Camila Giuliani, responsible for the Communication area at FNO and OEC in Bahia, and a member of the Group for nine years.
Divided into segments, the live event highlighted some of the remarkable facets of the engineer through the exhibition of the series “Memories of Norberto Odebrecht,” which demonstrate his strength as a human being, educator leader, and entrepreneur. Highlighting Dr. Norberto’s humanistic trait, Polidoro recalled his friendship with Santa Dulce, a partnership that significantly influenced his commitment to social transformation with the creation of the Foundation that now bears his name.
Cristiane Nascimento addressed the dynamic journey of FNO over the years, such as the choice of young people as the priority audience and the PDCIS social program, which for over 20 years has promoted sustainable territorial development in the Baixo Sul region of Bahia. “The Foundation remains alive, dynamic, and delivering many results for people and their communities, as was Dr. Norberto’s great dream,” she says.
The strength of corporate culture
Participants also reflected on Norberto Odebrecht as an entrepreneur, highlighting the engineer’s relationship with master builders, as well as his role as an educator leader and the importance of Our Culture as a bond that unites members of the Novonor Group. “It is a common reference that connects people, their hearts, and their minds,” said Polidoro. Cristiane reinforced that this cultural heritage is passed on to the beneficiaries of PDCIS. “It is a subtle and intangible process, but at the same time powerful, being the great differential of the Foundation,” she commented.
Amid emotional moments and knowledge exchanges, the event offered new generations of members an opportunity to learn more about Norberto Odebrecht’s history and the principles that shaped the Novonor Group, consolidating its culture and strengthening the sense of belonging to this legacy.
