  • Line 2 branch project wins 2nd place in Cemex Construction Prize

    Line 2 Branch and CemexThe Metro Line 2 Branch Project won 2nd place in the Infrastructure category of the Cemex Building Award 2023, international edition, which took place on Thursday, November 9, 2023, in Mexico City.

    The winners are works that represent excellence, achieving more ambitious spaces and avant-garde solutions for users and communities, promoting sustainability and social value in each of them.

    The ceremony was attended by engineer Tito Serra, from DN Panama, who received the award on behalf of the Line 2 Branch Project.  Previously, the project had been awarded first place in the infrastructure category in the local edition of this award, on 9th August.

    About the awards

    The award today is a platform that promotes development, creativity, sustainability, and innovation in construction, encouraging the exchange of ideas and solutions among different construction practices worldwide. It encourages work with greater ambition to achieve better spaces and better solutions for users and communities, promoting environmental care and social value.

    Each year, the competition is open to projects that were completed during the previous year. There are five categories: Residential Housing, Social Housing, Building, Collective Space and Infrastructures. There are also four Special Awards: Universal Accessibility, Sustainable Construction, Innovation in Construction and Social Value. The winning works from the Mexico Edition participate in the International Edition.

    Category

    Each work can take part in one or more of the following 5 categories:

    Residential housing: Houses, residences and housing developments for high and medium-high levels.

    Social housing: Houses, housing complexes for the middle, low-income and low-income sectors and assisted self-building.

    Buildings: Institutional, educational, commercial, religious, labor, government, industrial, hospital and mixed-use buildings.

    Collective space: Spaces that transcend the individual to the collective, fostering interactions among users and promoting a sense of community.

    Infrastructure: Communication routes, airports, stations, dams, bridges, transportation systems, roads or master plans.
