The concessionaire IIRSA Norte has concluded the duplication of the 48-km highway that connects the port of Paita to the city of Piura in northern Peru.

This infrastructure work will offer better safety conditions to the population and reduce traffic in such an important development hub for the northern region of the country.

The second lane on the Piura – Paita stretch is part of the IIRSA Norte Highway and consists of a 7.2-meter wide lane and a roadside that is 1.5 meters wide on the left side and 3 meters wide on the right side.

The project also includes the construction of drainage structures, with sewage pipelines made of reinforced concrete.

A total of US$91.8 million was invested in this important project, which will benefit 450,000 residents and provide adequate traffic conditions for transporting heavy and light cargo, as well as passengers, improving the quality of life and the safety of highway users.

On August 21, the President of Peru, Martín Vizcarra, cut the ribbon at the inauguration ceremony.

The duplication of the Piura – Paita stretch will improve communication, access and competitiveness of the region, which now relies on a fast and safe route for transportation, optimizing the logistics and production corridor of the northern region of the country.
