The Norberto Odebrecht Foundation took part in the 16th edition of the ABCR Festival, an event promoted by the Brazilian Association of Fund Raisers on July 1st and 2nd in the city of São Paulo (SP). Recognized as the largest fundraising event in Latin America and one of the main global conferences in this field, the 2024 edition focused on leadership and innovation in fundraising, bringing together representatives of Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) from all over Brazil.
For Adelcio Menezes, head of Partnerships and FNO’s representative at the festival, participation in the event is extremely important, as it offers an essential platform for interaction and dialog with other institutions. “We were able to share our experiences and success stories, a vital exchange to oxygenate our work. In addition, the event gave us a comparative view of practices and updated us on the latest innovations in the field of fundraising,” he emphasized.
He also concludes that meetings like this help to boost the Foundation’s social impact and increase its positive contribution to the communities it benefits. “We absorbed valuable knowledge and came back with fresh ideas to further strengthen fundraising within our Partnerships area, with the aim of making donations possible for both the Foundation and its partner institutions,” says Adelcio.
Also present at the event were representatives of the three Casas Familiares of the Southern Bahia Lowlands, partners of the Foundation in the implementation of its social program, PDCIS. According to Thales Lima, director of the Casa Familiar Rural Presidente Tancredo Neves (CFR-PTN), these two days of immersion provided in-depth reflections on how investors look at things and what approach to use to attract them.
“Reflecting on how our projects are presented and understanding what really interests investors is fundamental to strengthening our work. During the event, we discussed productive inclusion, an area in which we have experience and confidence that we are performing well,” said Thales.

The ABCR
The ABCR – Associação Brasileira de Captadores de Recursos (Brazilian Association of Fundraisers) is a non-profit organization made up of fundraisers and resource mobilizers whose main objective is to establish a broad national network, strengthening ties between professionals working in the field and providing conditions for technical exchange, the sharing of experiences and the common development of the profession. Created in 1999, ABCR’s mission is to promote, develop and qualify the activity of fundraising, seen today as one of the great challenges facing the third sector.
