Last week, on April 4-6, São Paulo hosted the 10th edition of the GIFE Congress (Group of Institutes, Foundations and Companies), with the promise of mobilizing social investors, leaders of civil society organizations, academics, consultants and government representatives on the topic “Brazil, democracy and sustainable development.”

Representing the Odebrecht Foundation, Cristiane Nascimento, who is responsible for the Program for Development and Growth Integrated with Sustainability (PDCIS), spoke during the “Youth” roundtable on the importance of private social investment and of the contextualized learning received by adolescents at the Family Homes, which are teaching institutions associated with UNESCO and supported by the Odebrecht Foundation in the Lowlands of Southern Bahia.

The 10th edition of the GIFE Congress was held in São Paulo on April 4-6.

During her speech, Cristiane highlighted the importance of working with youth in rural areas and of offering them an education focused on agricultural entrepreneurship, noting the technical education offered by the Family Homes that helps students to develop both professionally and personally. “Thirty years ago, the Odebrecht Foundation chose youth as its target public. As such, the Family Homes reinforce our mission of educating for life, through work, with values and to surpass limits,” she said.

Cristiane also highlighted the Foundation’s role in disseminating its social technology, the PDCIS. “We coordinate a tested and validated social technology that produces results,” she said. Cristiane also said that companies are paying more and more attention to the importance of social initiatives. “What private social investment does is to generate results that translate into the country’s development,” she said.

The “Youth” panel, which was part of the path “Social Investment Topics,” also featured the participation of Camila Aloi, from GIFE, Bianca Kapsevicius, from Ponto Social, and Laura Zellmeister, from J.P. Morgan. To watch the other roundtables and lectures of the Congress, go to the GIFE channel on YouTube.
