In a partnership with Ocyan, the Novonor Group’s oil and gas company, the Norberto Odebrecht Foundation (FNO) launched the 2nd edition of the Na Onda do Bem volunteer program this month. In the initiative, members of the company will provide voluntary mentoring to 30 family farmers from the Sana community, in Macaé (RJ). The expectation is that the members will be able to support rural producers based on their work experience, advising them on how to better deal with issues such as production planning, commercialization, marketing, environmental management and other topics – and thus encourage them to produce more, conserving nature and generating income and opportunities for their families.

For Nir Lander, Vice President of Management and People at Ocyan, the members will be able to contribute much more than their technical skills throughout the initiative. “We have different expertise and great talents at Ocyan, and we rely on a strong humanistic culture based on leadership by example, planned delegation and education through work,” explains Nir. “It is this experience of our members, combined with Nossa Cultura, that will promote learning and provide personal and professional growth for both the farmers of Macaé and our own members,” he says.

The initiative was launched online with Ocyan members – mentoring for the volunteer program will begin soon. Stay tuned!

Claudia Pimentel, the Sustainability and Partnerships coordinator at FNO, believes that the new edition of the volunteer program is an opportunity for Ocyan to create even stronger ties with the communities it works with. “This year, we chose to connect the members with farmers from the Sana community because it is in this region that, since 2021, the Foundation has been carrying out socio-environmental impact actions based on the practices of PDCIS, our Social Program,” she says. “With volunteering, we will contribute to the community in an even more interpersonal way, promoting personal relationships that can generate major changes in the daily lives of these rural producers,” says Cláudia.

Registration for volunteers for the 2nd edition of Na Onda do Bem has now closed – the first actions of the volunteer program will soon begin. Follow the Norberto Odebrecht Foundation and Ocyan’s social networks to keep up to date with everything!

    1st edition

In its first edition, held in 2022, the Na Onda do Bem program promoted mentoring between young people from the Family Houses of the Southern Bahia Lowlands, partner NGOs of the Norberto Odebrecht Foundation, and members of Ocyan, with the aim of encouraging the development of life and career plans for the boys and girls served. In total, around 120 mentoring meetings were held and more than 800 hours of volunteer work were dedicated throughout the edition, which ended in person in the Southern Bahia Lowlands.
