For the 12th time, Odebrecht Engineering & Construction earns the Gold Seal from the GHG Protocol

For the 12th time, Odebrecht Engineering & Construction has earned the Gold Seal from the Brazilian GHG Protocol Program, the highest level of excellence in measuring greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, awarded by the Center for Sustainability Studies at Getúlio Vargas Foundation.

Over the past 15 years, the complete inventory of greenhouse gases emissions, is published including consolidated data from operations in Brazil and abroad. This is done following criteria of accuracy, completeness, and methodological consistency, while also aiming for transparency in initiatives and supporting clients on their decarbonization journey.

This initiative reinforces the company’s commitment to climate governance and sustainable practices based on data, evidence, and qualified auditing. It is an essential step towards supporting goals and informing mitigation strategies for a low-carbon economy.

About the GHG Protocol

The Brazilian GHG Protocol Program promotes a corporate culture that supports the development and publication of greenhouse gases emissions inventories. The program’s goal is to promote, through engagement and technical and institutional training, a voluntary corporate culture for identifying, calculating, and preparing inventories of gaseous substances naturally present in the atmosphere that absorbs part of the infrared radiation emitted by the Sun and reflected by the Earth’s surface, hindering its escape into space.

The GHG Protocol establishes standardized global and comprehensive frameworks for measuring and managing gas emissions in public and private sector operations, value chains, and mitigation actions. Based on a 20-year partnership between the World Resources Institute (WRI) and the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD), the GHG Protocol works with governments, industry associations, NGOs, companies, and other organizations.
