Vocational education institutions strengthen education in rural areas of Southern Bahia Lowlands
Even in the face of the challenging scenario caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, the Family Houses partners with Odebrecht Foundation in carrying out the Social Program, PDCIS, have not failed to celebrate years of action in favor of quality education in the Southern Bahia Lowlands. With teaching contextualized to the rural area, the institutions use as methodology the Pedagogy of Alternation, in which students spend one week at school, full-time, with theoretical and practical classes, and two weeks at their families’ farms, applying the new knowledge.
To celebrate its 13th anniversary, the Rural Family House de Igrapiúna (CFR-I) held a virtual meeting on July 30th with President Harison Yogo, Director Francisvaldo Roza, the educator, Perivane Santos, and government representatives and the institution’s partners, represented by Leandro Ramos, Mayor of Igrapiúna; Jayme Ribeiro, President of the City Council for the Rights of Children and Adolescents; Fabio Wanderley, Superintendent of the Odebrecht Foundation; Joana Almeida, of Unesco Associated Schools Program, and also students, educators and families who watched the livestream on YouTube.
“Today I am here to thank you for this quality education project for the rural people that teaches the students to value themselves and all everything that surrounds them, looking to an even brighter future. There are many young people who have graduated from CFR-I and who have followed a success story”, said the mayor of Igrapiuna. Ubirajara Swinerd, Director of Plantações Michelin da Bahia, sent a testimonial in honor of CFR-I. “We are very proud to be part in this project from the beginning and to contribute to keep our young people in the field, he said.
The Rural Family House of President Tancredo Neves (CFR-PTN) celebrated its 18th anniversary, on August 2, with the launch of its Instagram account and a series of testimonies from people who have marked the history of the institution, like Ivanete Santos, a CFR-PTN monitor. “I was a student and I speak on behalf of all collaborators, students and young graduates. I am very honored to be part of this story and wish the school to continue its mission to promote growth and development of the young people living in rural areas,” she said. “Telling the story of the Family Homes is also telling an important part of the history of Odebrecht Foundation. The quality of the education, the care and attention with the students should be an example for other institutions in our country. And this is reverted into transformative results for young people, their families and communities of influence,” said Fabio Wanderley.
