  • ENSEADA’S 2023 WINTER CLOTHING DRIVE WARMS COMMUNITIES IN MARAGOJIPE

    DATE: 07/27/2023

    Published by: Enseada

In the last month, from July 11th to 13th, Enseada organized the delivery of the collected items from another edition of the “Winter Clothing Drive”, with the theme “Being compassionate knows no time.” The campaign brought warmth and solidarity to the district of São Roque do Paraguaçu and the remaining quilombo communities of Guaí, Guaruçu, Tabatinga, and Capanema, all located in the municipality of Maragojipe, Bahia.

The action aimed to collect clothes, blankets and warm winter clothes to be donated to people in situations of social vulnerability during the colder months of the year, seeking to offer comfort to these families, especially those living in precarious housing conditions in unhealthy areas, making them more susceptible to the intense cold during the winter season.

A total of 109 items were collected, including winter clothes, blankets, pants, long-sleeve shirts, and socks, intended for adults and children, benefiting more than 50 families from São Roque do Paraguaçu and the quilombos of Guaí, Guaruçu, Tabatinga, and Capanema. The initiative counted on the engagement of the companies Copa Engenharia Ambiental, FGS, Gereré Tour and Romseg, reinforcing the social commitment and corporate responsibility towards local communities.

The drive was received with deep gratitude by the assisted communities. Many expressed words of thanks and blessings to the Enseada team and the partner companies involved in carrying out this humanitarian action. One of the remarks that stood out was: “May God bless each of you who joined together and remembered us. The donation came at the right time, to keep us warm in this cold, only God can repay you, and may this action continue so that more people can be remembered as well.”

For the families that were helped, the assistance received was more than just clothes and blankets, it represented a gesture of solidarity that brought hope and gratitude. Eliene Lima and Morgana Carregosa, members of the Enseada team, responsible for delivering the donations, had the support of Antônio Bonfim, president of the Association of Friends of São Roque do Paraguaçu, Marina Calheiros, representative of the Guaipanema Quilombola Association, Maria Rita, president of the Mariquilombo Association and Eduardo Sousa, collaborator of the Gereré Tour company.

Eliene Lima’s satisfaction was notorious, as she reported that the experience was extremely rewarding, especially for being able to witness the joy and positive impact on the lives of the people benefited from the initiative. “I was delighted with this action,” she said, emphasizing the significance of being able to contribute to the improvement of the quality of life for those who need it most.

The Winter Clothing Drive conducted by Enseada and partner companies, reinforces the importance of solidarity and social responsibility in addressing social inequalities. The colder temperatures of winter can be particularly harsh for families in vulnerable situations, and the initiative demonstrated that with the combination of efforts and generosity, it is possible to alleviate the challenges faced by these communities.
