Duplication of the first part of the Rodovia dos Minérios is delivered to the population
DATE: 10/31/2024
Works on section 2.1A of PR-092, between Curitiba and Almirante Tamandaré, were carried out by the construction company OEC. Section 2.1B, 1.28 km long, is still in progress
OEC – Odebrecht Engineering and Construction completed the duplication works of 4.74 km, corresponding to section 2.1A, of PR-092, better known as Rodovia dos Minérios, between the cities of Curitiba and Almirante Tamandaré in Paraná. The new section will provide more safety to the population of the region, especially truck drivers, in what is considered one of the main logistical drainage channels for mining, steel, tourism, and agribusiness activities in the southern region of the country.
The duplication begins just before the viaduct of the Contorno Norte de Curitiba (PR-418) and continues to the urban perimeter of Almirante Tamandaré. The central lane was executed in rigid concrete pavement and the marginal lanes, on both sides, are of flexible asphalt pavement. The work includes 10 bridges in five locations, four viaducts, and the implementation of a bike path and pedestrian walkways. Approximately 1.9 million cubic meters of earth were moved, 63 thousand cubic meters of concrete were used, and 1,700 tons of steel were utilized. During the work, more than a thousand direct and indirect jobs were generated, primarily hired in the region.
History
Although the original project dates back to 2014, it was only in 2017 that the Government of Paraná promoted the bidding, which was judicialized at the time. The impasse was only resolved in 2019, when the Paraná Department of Roads (DER/PR) was able to contract the service. The works surpassed the critical period of the pandemic, which forced a slowdown in the pace of the works, in addition to impacting the prices of inputs globally. Overcoming the imposed challenges, the work resumed its pace in April of this year, culminating in its completion this September.
Rodovia dos Minérios is a high-demand daily route, especially for heavy trucks, connecting Curitiba and Almirante Tamandaré, as well as other locations such as Rio Branco do Sul, Itaperuçu, Cerro Azul, and the Ribeira Valley region.
