Diversity, Equity and Inclusion: Norberto Odebrecht Foundation launches booklet
DATE: 11/19/2024
The promotion of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DE&I) has been gaining more and more traction in the corporate world and is becoming a central concern in the “S” of ESG (Environmental, Social and Corporate Governance). This includes, among other things, the inclusion of LGBTQIAPN+ people, women, people with disabilities, minority ethnic groups, as well as respect for generational, cultural and socio-economic differences.
In Brazil, a country recognized for its great plurality, this debate has strengthened since 2015, and the impact of global movements, such as Black Lives Matter in 2020, has reinforced the need for institutions to reflect this multiculturalism in their spaces and carry out more effective practices for greater representation.
ccording to the study “Panorama of Diversity Strategies in Brazil 2023 and Trends for 2024”, prepared by the startup Blend Edu, 72% of Brazilian companies already have specific areas focused on diversity and inclusion – in 2020, it was 64%, reflecting the growing importance of the issue. This data shows that DE&I has become a strategic priority for the advancement of institutions, ensuring the creation of a welcoming and inclusive work environment – an action that also has a positive impact on their financial performance.
For the Third Sector, inclusion is a moral responsibility; it is not just a management strategy, but the essence of effective and lasting social change. By adopting DE&I policies, these organizations are reinforcing their ethical commitment to their communities, educating society and shaping a fairer and more equal world. With this in mind, the Norberto Odebrecht Foundation (FNO) has just launched its Diversity, Equity & Inclusion booklet, with the technical cooperation of AC Consultoria.
Working for the inclusion of people from rural Bahia belonging to historically under-represented groups, the FNO has broadened its view of DE&I and made the booklet available to the general public. “We are an institution whose vision is to be recognized for multiplying socio-environmental impact solutions to build a sustainable future and building that future undoubtedly involves a more inclusive and diverse outlook throughout society,” said Eduardo Fraguas, head of People and Finance at FNO.
The booklet is available on the institution’s website (www.fundacaonorbertoodebrecht.com). To access it, click on the image below!
